Tools exist within contexts.
They fit a time.
Some are long lived, though anarchonistic. Like the 1911.
Some seem timeless. Like a wood-handled hammer.
And some cling to life - an old biddy in a rent-controlled corner apartment with a view of Central Park. Or maybe the East River. Still desirable real estate.
Need I say it? Until we're shooting blasters, the "P" series is serviceable and supported.
